[not really a] Ninja News #2 - Hashtag Procrastination
I'm going to start this off by saying - I'm not a blogger - thus the complete lack of a posting schedule. In the words of Eric Cartman "I do what I want."
Between house sitting for my Dad (about 2.5 hours away) for the better part of June, enjoying a wonderful weekend getaway for the anniversary and keeping up the yard and garden, I feel like I have spent very little time in my own house this summer. Which, I suppose is the nature of summer. {Get out and do stuff they said, it will be fun they said.} The result has been, a real lack of housekeeping. I've pretty much been keeping up on it just enough to not want my mother to stop by unannounced.
My office suffered the worst... Filing overflowing from my inbox, stacks of magazines I'll probably never read again collecting dust on the floor, piles of shit that I don't have room for the in the rest of the house spilling from the closet - a disaster that is usually difficult for me to stand very long. It turns out that I'm really good at avoiding things if they can just be hidden by closing the door and moving my computer to the kitchen counter.
Yesterday, I decided it was time to face it. After a pot of coffee, the kiddo's piano lessons, a trip to the gas station, a short walk and a fill in the blank questionnaire on Facebook involving Harry Potter references using only words that start with the first letter of my first name... I finally had no choice but to cross the threshold and face the demon. But first....
I'm not sure I want to admit how long I spent on that tweet. And then...

Filing is particularly horrifying, don't you think? Among other things, I do bookkeeping for a small business and it was just out of control. There's really no excuse for my actions... Sometimes its just tiring being a Mom. And sometimes Mom just needs to sit down and play Assassins Creed instead of putting shit where it goes. OK?
This lovely collection is what took over my desk after I moved my computer out. A good portion is from when I cleaned out my desk at work on my last day of regularly scheduled employment...
Harry Potter is taking time away his shelf as I have been reading the series to my son. We just finished #3. I believe that NOT introducing your child to Harry, as soon as he's old enough to be excited about it, is just irresponsible parenting.
And for the record, my ugly christmas sweater was amazing.
I cut myself on a piece of glass - there was blood.
It feels good to be back. Although I could really go for another one of those weekend getaways (pictured on desktop background)... what was I saying about productivity?

[not really a] Ninja News #1
Welcome to the first ever [not really a] Ninja News!
A: The latest happenings or current offers or maybe just ramblings...
[not really] Ninja's don't particularly appreciate being questioned. Or being defined, for that matter.
Topic #1 - Designing FULL TIME... Again.
I've pretty much been "outa the game" for the past year and a half (full time day jobs, who needs em, am I right?) and now that I'm back home I feel like I am finally back in the world! Twitter and Facebook and, and, and BLOGGING!! I can't believe all that I've missed. I'm RT'ing tweets from months ago (sorry guys) and just now getting around to posting the cover for Live To Tell (see number 3) who KNOWS what I'll find next!Topic #1 (part 2) - Please accept my gratitude.
I feel very lucky to say that I have a handful of faithful clients who've made sure that my creative juices didn't just dry up and die. While I am over-the-moon-excited to announce that I'm accepting new business, I also realize there is a much wider variety of affordable and very TALENTED options to choose from these days. I can't thank you all enough for your continued business!Item B - FREE COVER Offer. (Yes, I jumped from Topic #1 Part 2 to Item B because I can't decide how I want to format these. I'm just going to keep trying them out until I find one I like).
And I also DID say FREE! I haven't been able to get any hits on this giveaway between forum posts and even a Twitter campaign. I'm starting believe folks don't really like Free stuff anymore? Is that true?
I didn't think my contest (to find the *keyword*, which is still hidden somewhere on my website at torriecooney.com) was overly challenging... I mean, somewhat challenging... but not overwhelmingly challenging. I'm not going to post it on the home page with a flashing neon sign, people! Seriously. Someone please find this thing... it's a FREE COVER DESIGN!
3. New BIANCA SLOANE Cover!
Bianca is one of those very faithful clients, mentioned above, whom I can't thank enough for letting me work on her covers as she continues to exponentially spread her awesomeness out to the world. We generally wrap up her designs long before she is ready to release her novels so I wait to showcase them in my gallery (I can't spoil the surprise, hello!). I get REALLY excited when I'm finally allowed to show them off - so without further adieu, I give you Live To Tell!

Bianca can tell you more about it HERE :) |
•√˚ยบ Apparently I should just use Bullet Points.
I was just reading that using numbers or letters to label my topics actually signifies an order of importance. [not really] Ninjas don't like to over complicate things so I will just move forward using bullets or symbols.
(Just in case I need to credit where exactly I was reading this helpful advice, here is a link to the article. She seems like a pretty nice lady.)
• Seriously... A free cover.
I refuse to give hints to the location of the keyword.
Sincerely,
Torrie
P.S. Do I really need to sign this thing? It is the news. Maybe I need a catchy sign off like "Stay classy, San Diego" or "That's the way the cookie crumbles".
Hmm... I'll get back to you on that.
